ACTIVE&nbsp;horses are those that you use in your everyday work or at least those that are on your farm. These horses will be taken into account for:<ul><li>Reminders (pregnancy, farrier, vaccinations, breeding controls, etc)</li><li>Breeding (Services, breeding controls, pregnancy monitoring, etc)</li><li>Summaries and reports</li></ul>Besides, on an&nbsp;Active horse, you can record historical data (health records, competition, farrier, training, cost/expenses), while in Reference horses you just see a timeline of records in read-only mode.On the other hand, REFERENCE horses are those that for any reason you are not monitoring and entering records.Generally, these animals have some of these characteristics:<ul><li>Are sold or dead</li><li>Are stored in the system as part of the genealogy of other horses (active or not)</li><li>External horses that don't need to enter information (stallions you bought semen from for example)</li><li>Genealogy for research&nbsp;</li></ul>You can't create historical records on these Reference horses.CRIO ONLINE plans only take into account the number of ACTIVE horses you have, not Reference ones.

In CRIOONLINE, you can create Diets and assign them to horses so that the system will charge each horse the daily cost of it and also keep the feed inventory stock up to date.<h3>Step 1: Create feed products in the Inventory module&nbsp;</h3><blockquote><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:46.14%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//389fd47d-9d78-44f9-a2b1-65c1f78adf70"></figure>Create all the products in the inventory selecting the product type "Feed". When creating it, you can enter the current stock of it.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75.06%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//b81819fc-b172-4fd6-9a16-44f9552084bf"></figure>After the creation, you can change stock adding a "Stock movement", be it an ADDITION to stock or a WITHDRAWAL.One important aspect to take into account is the UNIT of measure: The unit of the inventory product must be the same in which the feed is consumed (if you buy bags of feed, express the stock in lb., since surely the consumption will be done in lb., not in bags) and the same applies to the price (if consumed in lbs, the price should be per lb).You can also set the stock alert threshold for the product, so that once you reach that stock threshold, you will start receiving notifications by email alerting you that your product is low in stock.</blockquote><h3>Step 2: Create the diets in the Diets module</h3><blockquote>In the Diets module, you create a diet just by selecting the products created in the Inventory module.When adding products to the diet, you can set the quantity and optionally the time of the day. Each product on a diet can appear multiple times during the day. &nbsp;You can create a Diet to be used by multiple horses or an individual diet with the special horse requirements.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:69.32%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//0249bbc5-c616-4232-88e5-7fd358364815"></figure></blockquote><h3>Step 3: Assign the diet to the horses</h3><blockquote>To assign the diet to a horse or group of horses there are 2 ways to do it:<ul><li>One by one<ul><li>Go to the horse profile and there is a section, usually below the Pedigree section, and select the name of the Diet.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>In batch<ul><li>Go to a list of horses ("My Horses", a Paddock or the horses in a Group) and mark the checkboxes next to them. This will make a new menu appear, and there you need to go to the "Assign diets" option.</li><li>In the popup you will see the list of horses with the current diet each one is on. You can select the new diets one by one, or you can use the upper select option to set the same diet to all the horses in the list.</li><li>Hit "Accept" to actually apply the changes.</li></ul></li></ul><h4>Changes 2022:</h4>Now horses can have 2 current diets, one for the main diet and you can also assign a secondary one for supplements or to do short-term additions to the main diet.<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//928e6167-43dc-4970-a37c-2d585dd385ee"></figure></blockquote><h3>Configuration options:</h3><blockquote>In the Preferences options, there is a section called "Inventory and diets", where you can activate or cancel certain behaviors.For example, you can set if you want the diet consumption to be withdrawn daily, or if you want or not to charge diet cost to the horse on a daily basis, send or not low stock alert emails.<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//1b1e8ab0-a11d-4a17-bc02-d32785c37070"></figure></blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Step 1: Create the animal, without adding its genealogy (Using the "Add horse" or "Quick entry" options on the main screen)Step 2: Access the pedigree of the horse and enter the ancestryThe missing animals in the genealogy have 2 buttons:<ul><li>Add an animal: presents the option to create a horse in CRIO and assign it as the dam/sire of the animal</li><li>Select an animal: searches for a horse already entered in CRIO and assigns it as the dam/sire of the animal</li></ul>Once you select or create the ancestor, the option to add its parents will be enabled... repeating step 2 as many times as required to create the full pedigree in depth.<blockquote>Note: It is quite practical that you first enter the genealogy of the most used stallions in your farm, so that when executing step 2 and selecting the Sire, the system loads ALL IT'S BRANCH in the genealogy.</blockquote><blockquote>Note 2: To avoid entering the same animal multiple times and that they are repeated in the system, you should use the "Select an animal" option instead of creating it if it was previously created in another genealogy. In Preferences, we have an option that makes the system not allow repeated names, which can help minimize errors.</blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp;

If you select the check box next to the horse name in horse lists (My Horses, Group details, Paddock details) or in the header of the list, a new menu is displayed with options that apply to all the selected horses.&nbsp;This is a very helpful menu that saves lots of time not forcing you to enter the information horse by horse.<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//357a83b0-7351-4eae-bf52-10b26461f5e2"></figure>The full batch actions menu:<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com//2c790017-113a-4549-ac4c-6f2c843f505a"></figure>Some options allow to enter the information once and it is copied to each selected horse (Farrier, health, lab tests, etc). Other options display a list of selected horses and fields next to each one to enter the information (Field edition, diets, status, measures). And you have some others that are like reports using the selected horses as targets.

<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/20bd054d-c031-42e5-85bc-2af7f01899cd"></figure><ul><li>Search the mare in MY HORSES or in the upper-right search box, and click on its name.</li><li>Look for the "Mare's pregnancy status" section, typically on the right column.</li></ul><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:44%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/801eb36c-13bf-4f9d-9e02-b6e41e0bb34f"></figure><ul><li>In the "Mare's pregnancy status", you can see several statuses:</li></ul><blockquote><ol><li>If the mare was served (AI, ET, LC)&nbsp;the first status is "Without verification". At this moment you can see an option to record a "Breeding Control", where you can enter the pregnancy verification. Once it is done, the mare is officially pregnant in the system. To do so, you just need to check the option "Pregnant" to YES, that is the most important bit of information there.</li><li>If mare is not served, status will say "OPEN",&nbsp;and you are allowed to change its status, where you will enter:&nbsp; Sire, Date, Type of Service (AI, ET, LC, ets), cost, vet. Then, the mare is in the state described in #1.</li><li>If Mare is pregnant, status is shown in green, and also displays how many days have elapsed from the breeding service. There you can enter more Breeding Controls as pregnancy monitoring. This monitoring is done by the vet with ultrasound or palpation, where he can detect for example an abortion and if he mark that option, the mare will be OPEN again (although it will indicate OPEN BY ABORTION in its status).</li></ol></blockquote><code>Notes:</code> The procedure indicated to mark a mare pregnant guides you on how to do it and should be simple, but all this can be done manually by accessing the options of BREEDING SERVICES and BREEDING CONTROLS of a mare.If you accessed it there, it is a little more complex. But it can be useful if we make a mistake (for example, if you mark a mare as aborted... since we can not correct the state with the procedure above, and you should go to the BREEDING CONTROLS section and correct that last follow-up).
